Critic Reviews of "Glee - Season 1"
Alan Sepinwall Newark Star-LedgerMay 19, 2009They're flashy and can be briefly shocking or funny or even moving, but the more they go over-the-top, the less impact they have for me.
Troy Patterson SlateMay 19, 2009At its best, Glee is not just entertaining but elating, dramatizing Breakfast Club-quality teen angst with the aid of tight production numbers covering new and classic popular songs.
Glenn Garvin Miami HeraldMay 19, 2009Cynical, sweet and inestimably funny, Glee is by far the best show of the fall TV season.
David Hinckley New York Daily NewsMay 19, 2009"Glee" could have a hard time sustaining what it has set up. But the opening number gives us a rousing good show.
Matt Roush TV GuideMay 19, 2009Glee may never be able to recapture its initial glow and buzz, but if this is an indication of its future, I like where it's heading.
Chris Barsanti PopMattersMay 19, 2009Glee is starting out smartly, a promising blip in a fall season dominated otherwise by the usual reality sludge and forensic law enforcement blah-blah-blah.
Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-GazetteMay 19, 2009"Glee" is delightful enough to qualify as a fall favorite.
Brian Lowry VarietyMay 19, 2009Put simply, "Glee" strikes too many sour notes for a series with precious little margin for error.
Maureen Ryan Chicago TribuneMay 19, 2009"Glee" has many things going for it, but one of its main attractions is that it's different.
