Born in Ireland and of Italian descent, Sonya Macari trained at the Gaiety school of Acting in Dublin and at The Herbert Bergoff Studios in New York. She also had the pleasure of working with Sir Anthony Hopkins in an intimate master class given by him in Los Angeles. She began appearing in television commercials in Dublin at the age of 18 and her acting screen debut was in 'The Clinic' followed by a recurring role in season one of 'The Tudors'. She also appeared in the global print campaign for the show. Sonya currently resides in LA and has built on the success she has achieved as a stage and screen actress in Ireland by playing a variety of roles, some of which have included 'Mary Magdalene' for Hallmark, an Italian spy 'Antonia' for the hit show 'Chuck' on NBC, directed by Patrick Norris (Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries). 'Francesca' in 'Caravaggio and My Mother the Pope' based on the life of Caravaggio, A city worker 'Sara', in an apocalyptic Science Fiction movie entitled ' Protocol', and 'Eva Clark', a 1930's stage actress driven insane by the pressure of achieving and loosing fame in 'Behind The Curtain', a film noir homage. Various theatre roles have included a cabaret singer, a gangster's wife and a murderous teenager! Sonya also took the lead in 'Business', a short movie which was shortlisted for the Santa Barbara Film Festival. She has also studied dance, which has led her to work on the set of Glee, and also to dance on music videos for Michael Buble and Ozzy Osbourne. Sonya was asked to MC a stellar event on the Fox Studio lot in Hollywood, with Kobe Bryant as the Special Guest and also recently had the pleasure of being the main MC for the ITLG Event on the Sony Pictures Studio lot. She can be seen in the ten time Oscar nominated silent movie 'The Artist' directed by Michel Hazanavicius, where she appears alongside the leading lady Berenice Bejo. Sonya currently spends her time between Los Angeles and Dublin. 'Kiss The Devil In The Dark', a dark fantasy thriller in which she stars, is slated for release in the summer of 2015 and she has been nominated for 'best supporting actress' at the Utah film festival.
