Twin Peaks - Season 2, Episode 20: The Path to the Black Lodge
TrailerEpisode 27 of Twin Peaks, 'The Path to the Black Lodge,' originally aired on April 18, 1991, and was directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal. In this episode, the contestants of the Miss Twin Peaks contest prepare for the big day and several characters experience a mysterious shaking hand phenomena. Just before John Justice Wheeler takes off for Brazil, Audrey meets with him one last time. Doc Hayward examines Ben and warns him to stay away from Eileen. Meanwhile, Donna finds the 'Father' entry blank on her birth certificate. Major Briggs, Cooper, and Truman watch a videotape of Windom Earle, who announces his intentions of seeking out the Black Lodge. Cooper believes there is a connection to the Black Lodge and the maps of the petrogyph in Owl Cave. Out in the woods, Earle abducts Major Briggs, then proceeds to interrogate him and shoot him with drugs. Later that day, Andrew and Catherine continue to struggle with the puzzle box, which seems to only contain other boxes. While dancing with Annie, Cooper has another vision with the Giant.Actors: Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean, Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Richard Beymer, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sherilyn Fenn, Warren Frost, Peggy Lipton, James Marshall, Everett McGill, ...»Director: Mark Frost, David LynchCountry: United StatesDuration: 47 minQuality: HDRelease: 1990IMDb: 8.70 CommentsSort By- Newest

Critic Reviews of "Twin Peaks - Season 2"
Birth.Movies.Death.June 28, 2017Things are getting pretty good. There's still some sh*t I don't care about, but all in all, this is pretty fully rad.
Film School RejectsMay 19, 2017There's an elegance and refinement to the episode that can be attributed to Gyllenhaal's direction, and the result is a smooth and polished, subtly-stylistic hour.
NerdistMay 18, 2017The final shot of the town empty and silent as we finally see the entrance to the Black Lodge is a great capper to a pretty good episode that sets thing up for a spectacular finale.
New York TimesMay 19, 2017For all the missteps and misjudgments made by the Twin Peaks creative team in Season 2, it understood what it had in the soulful, eloquent Maj. Briggs (and in Don S. Davis, the actor who played him).
