Critic Reviews of "Boardwalk Empire - Season 3"
Troy Patterson SlateJuly 21, 2014Boardwalk Empire is in the tradition of gangster stories that treat their principals less as tragic heroes than as troubled businessmen, and there's something businesslike in its handsomely mannered approach to elaborating underworld myth.
Andrew Williams QuickflixMarch 28, 2014Jack Huston does more with half his face than most actors do with the whole lot, and he imbues a man of few words with the depth only long-form television is able to provide.
Andy Greenwald GrantlandSeptember 16, 2013A puffed-up show that drowns its myriad shortcomings in an ocean of booze and blood. It's the televised equivalent of an empty suit.
David Hinckley New York Daily NewsSeptember 16, 2012With all due respect to the zombies, there's been no better show on Sunday nights this fall than Boardwalk Empire.
Ed Bark Uncle BarkySeptember 16, 2012This is still the role of Buscemi's lifetime, the likes of which this otherwise lifelong supporting actor may never see again.
Matthew Gilbert Boston GlobeSeptember 16, 2012Hanging in there is very easy on a show with such dazzling production values, which turn the 1920s into a darkly lit dream, and such knockout performances.
Kevin Yeoman ScreenRantJuly 21, 2014Boardwalk Empire has grown into a series interested in the rippling effect that competition, greed and duplicity can have on an individual and the choices he or she makes.
Michelle Rafferty Paste MagazineJuly 18, 2014Here's signing off on another great Boardwalk season! Looking forward to 1924!
Alan Sepinwall HitFixJuly 16, 2014That's Boardwalk Empire. It may not have the mystery or emotional depth of The Sopranos, but it lays out its story and makes sure all the pieces fit together very, very well at the end. And when you get to the end, that can feel awfully satisfying.
Mark A. Perigard Boston HeraldSeptember 16, 2012Boardwalk Empire is worthy of your best bubbly.
