Trigger Warning with Killer Mike - Season 1

Mike's got some fun ideas, and Trigger Warning examines societal ills and taboos that haven't been examined on many documentaries or series.

More or less an imperfect, six-episode thought experiment, Trigger Warning finds the affable Run the Jewels MC serving humor, absurdity, and truth in equal portions.

Killer Mike is a very enjoyable host and first-person character. Of course, that only makes the episodes where he takes a back seat and is not as central a figure falter.

While Killer Mike is a refreshing straight shooter onstage and as a talking head on CNN and elsewhere, his new six-part Netflix series Trigger Warning feels like it wafted over half-baked from Viceland with the social experiment munchies.

Mike has a solid point of view, but he's also big hearted and charming, which goes a very long way to invite people to learn about subjects they'd otherwise never think about.

He's a confident, ursine screen presence, a fierce opponent of corporate hegemony and a Bernie Sanders fan. But more importantly, Killer Mike is an open, original thinker who lets his experiments breathe and grow.

The abundance of interesting insights and perspectives makes it well worth checking out.
