A Token Attempt is the first episode of series 2. Following the death of Neil Pember, Lomax is still looking for the people who framed him, whilst also looking for his son, Steve. The episode opens with a visit to Lomax by the journalist, Robinson, with a problem. His Godchild, Billie, who has become estranged from her father and step mother, and he wants Lomax to meet her and try to help her sort out her life.
