Critic Reviews of "American Horror Story - Season 5"
TheWrapOctober 07, 2015In short, what's old is new again, a theme many hotels have used in their day. For Horror Story, heading into its fifth season, it sure feels due.
Orlando SentinelOctober 07, 2015If it falls short, that could be because the premiere feels more cruel than scary.
St. Louis Post-DispatchOctober 07, 2015Disturbing us is the point, of course, but good horror stories go beyond grotesqueries and gore. American Horror Story: Hotel may do that, but I won't know; I don't plan to spend another night there.
SlateOctober 07, 2015The findings are auspicious. AHS: Hotel more obviously resembles the first two, better seasons of American Horror Story than it does the latter, lesser two.
RogerEbert.comOctober 06, 2015They're pushing boundaries. Screw your need for normalcy. You can get that anywhere. And, on that level, Hotel works. The question of quality comes down to the tolerance you have for style over substance.
Bloody DisgustingMay 08, 2017Ryan Murphy and company have set the stage for a monstrous fifth season that's boasting its ability to be unapologetic from sex to the drugs and violence.
SciFiNowOctober 24, 2016As ever, the set design is spot on and brilliantly atmospheric, but ultimately this feels too similar to other, better series to really stand out.
Salt Lake TribuneOctober 07, 2015Executive producers/writers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have clearly confused gore with fear, and they're not the same. There's plenty of the former, and the later is, sadly, missing.
ForbesOctober 07, 2015Ultimately, American Horror Story: Hotel does little more than establish a setting in its premiere episode.
