Washington PostJanuary 01, 2000Apted gives this smarter-than-average script a slick look and expertly develops suspense.
Chicago Sun-TimesJanuary 01, 2000What I liked best was the way the whole legal case and all of its twists and turns were used to force the Hackman and Mastrantonio characters into learning things about themselves.

eFilmCritic.comMay 14, 2007How far we've come! Here, it's still the youngster -- and the woman -- who needs to be put in her place.
Spirituality and PracticeJuly 18, 2003A two-fisted slugger, hammering across points about legal and familial ethics.
Capital Times (Madison, WI)June 12, 2003Not exactly a nail-biter, but a well-crafted courtroom thriller
MovieholeApril 27, 2003Two great actors giving two great performances
eFilmCritic.comJuly 27, 2002Works like an above-average TV-flick ... only with better actors.
Austin ChronicleJanuary 01, 2000Managed to take one of the most contrived plots I've ever seen and make it seem, if not original, then at least way above average.
Deseret News, Salt Lake CityJanuary 01, 2000Director Michael Apted has taken what could have been a routine courtroom drama and built instead a stunning study of familial love and misunderstanding.
Nashville SceneJanuary 01, 2000Class Action is one of the rare films that combines a truly affecting family crisis with a good potboiler.
