Known for his gripping onscreen performances and deep personality, Ryan Hope Travis is an award winning American actor. His body of work spans from independent film and regional theater performance to devised theater creation. Ryan has written, directed, and performed for regional theaters, independent production companies and dance companies throughout the East Coast. He is the recipient of the 2013 Individual Artist Commission from the New York State Council on the Arts. The commissioned work entitled, "A Shout In Salty Water," is a one-man show derived from interviews with 17-low income fathers from Syracuse, NY. "A Shout In Salty Water" and "June 16" are a part his collection of one-man shows called, The Father/Son Play Cycle.Ryan has taught acting and theater courses at Colgate University, Syracuse University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and the University of Florida. He received a B.A. in African World Studies from Fort Valley State University, a M.A. in Pan African Studies from Syracuse University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Florida. He has written for The SAGE Encyclopedia of African Cultural Heritage in North America, 2015 ("Gaspar Yanga Maroon Society, Veracruz, Mexico") and Syracuse New Times, 2014 ("What Ruby Dee Taught Me About Acting").
