His acting career entailed several guest shots on TV shows, sitcoms and movies but he is best known for his role of a part-time deputy marshal and handy man, Clayton Thaddeus "Thad" Greenwood in thirty-six episodes (October 2, 1965 - September 25, 1967) of the popular TV western series, Gunsmoke, starring James Arness as Dodge City's Marshal Matt Dillon. After he left Gunsmoke, he played in two movies: as Donald Maxwell in the western "Smith" (1969) starring Glenn Ford and as Nelson in "Play It As It Lays" (1972) starring Tuesday Weld and Anthony Perkins.
