Robin Thede

Robin Thede is a comedy writer and comedic actress. She is the daughter of Dave Thede, a teacher, and Phyllis Thede, Iowa House Representative. She has two sisters, Acacia and Mackenzie. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, earning a B.S.J. degree in Broadcast Journalism and African-American Studies. After college, Robin studied improv, sketch and comedy writing at The Second City in Chicago.She is a writer and former head writer for Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore (2015). Prior, she was head writer on season one of The Queen Latifah Show (2013) and wrote on the first two seasons of the BET's hit comedy Real Husbands of Hollywood (2013). She also appeared in recurring roles on BET's Second Generation Wayans (2013) and Fox's The Goodwin Games (2013). She guest starred on Comedy Central's Key and Peele (2012) and appeared in the film A Haunted House (2013).Other credits include several years of writing for award shows such as: the BET Awards, BET Honors, UNCF: An Evening of Stars, BET Hip Hop Awards and the NAACP Image Awards -- including writing for numerous comedians/hosts, including, but not limited to, Kevin Hart, Jamie Foxx, Mike Epps, Anthony Anderson, Wayne Brady, Queen Latifah and Samuel L. Jackson.Robin has worked on several projects as both a writer and performer, including Fox's sketch comedy TV series In the Flow with Affion Crockett (2011), executive produced by Jamie Foxx, Mike Epps: Funny Bidness (2009), and the TV comedy series Clunkers (2011) (starring Carl Payne, David Faustino and Sherman Hemsley).Other television appearances include roles on TV Land's Hot in Cleveland (2010), Comedy Central's Chocolate News (2008) and UPN's All of Us (2003). She also received critical acclaim for her emotionally gripping role on the BET original web series Buppies (2009).Robin's writing credits also include the 42nd NAACP Image Awards (2011), the BET Awards (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), the BET Hip Hop Awards (2010, 2011, 2012) and more. Additionally, Robin has created several hugely successful viral videos, including Funny or Die.com's Every Little Step (2010) with Wayne Brady, Bobby Brown and Mike Tyson and For (Stuffed) Colored Girls (2010). She can also be seen with Elite Delta Force 3 in Funny or Die.com's "The Real Housewives of Civil Rights".Robin's comedy work extends from years of professional live sketch comedy (Second City Chicago and LA, Improv Olympic, etc.) to comedic commentary on shows like Fuel TV's The Daily Habit (2005) and Style Network's What I Hate About Me (2010). Other notable work includes co-hosting on The Voice of Reason on Jamie Foxx's Foxxhole Sirius/XM radio channel and working as a regular entertainment correspondent on E! News (1991).Robin's countless characters and boundless energy make her a comedic force to be reckoned with, but she has also been hailed for dramatic roles as well, including playing "Sarah" in the NAACP Theater Award-Winning "Girls of Summer" and winning the Best Actress Performance Prize in the Brussels International Film Festival for her work in the short film Plant One on Me (2004).
