He covered the Boston Red Sox for the Globe during most of the 1970s and 1980s. Gammons joined ESPN as a baseball analyst in 1988. He appeared regularly on Baseball Tonight (1990) and also made appearances on SportsCenter (1979). In 2009, he left ESPN and joined the MLB Network.
