Patrick Martin Stumph (born on April 27, 1984 in Glenview, Illinois) is a Chicago musician and producer. Most notably he is the lead singer and guitarist of the band Fall Out Boy.He changed the spelling of his name to 'Stump' when he joined Fall Out Boy to avoid confusion over its pronunciation. When he joined Fall Out Boy, Stump had neither sung for a band before nor had singing lessons. He formed the band with Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz, both of whom were active in Chicago's hardcore scene. The son of a folk singer, Stump was originally a drummer for a few local suburban Chicago bands, one of which being a band named Public Display of Infection, which he was in in his early teen age years. Upon the formation of Fall Out Boy, though, he took up not only lead vocal duties but was also forced to learn guitar when an early guitar player quit days before their first tour.As producer he has worked with The Hush Sound and Gym Class Heroes. He produced the Cobra Starship album ¡Viva La Cobra!. I think you can totally be a totally normal kid from the suburbs of Chicago and go off and play shows. It's one of those things that when you go home, you're still the nerd you were when you left, and your parents still get to yell at you about cleaning up your room, and your girlfriend still drags you to the pet store. Whoever's in charge of my Wikipedia, alright, whoever you are - the major, most egregious thing in there isn't that, you know, apparently I'm bisexual and have like, twenty kids and, um, that I learned everything I know from a sixteen-year-old who probably wrote that in himself, but the most egregious of all the errors is that it says I am a massive David Bowie fan. Which is true, but it is a gross omission to leave out my obsession with Prince. Absolutely. So whoever you are, throw that in there. Go for it. You know what? Make me eighty feet tall. And you know, make me a transsexual. But put in Prince. Show less «
