Norris began her writing career in the series Saturday Night Live from 1980-84, receiving an Emmy nomination for her writing. She then moved on to write episodes for the series It's Your Move, Gimme A Break, and Remington Steele before co-writing the screenplay for Troop Beverly Hills. She then became producer and writer for the series Designing Women, for which she received three more Emmy nominations. She also produced episodes of the series Hearts Afire, Mad About You,The Huntress, Emeril, and The Simple Life (also creator). Norris returned to writing, penning a 2010 episode of Ghost Whisperer.
