Morgana Robinson is an award winning comedy actress, having been awarded Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2012 British Comedy Awards, a prestigious award previously received by the likes of Sacha Baron-Cohen, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan and Caroline Aherne.Morgana reprises the role of neighbour Julie, who has a new vocation, for Vic and Bob's House of Fools, returning to BBC2 for a second series and Christmas special. From 25th November Morgana will star in the new series of Sky Arts' Psychobitches; an all-star sketch show (Sharon Horgan, Rebecca Front, Sam Spiro, Frances Barber, Jack Whitehall, Kathy Burke, Sheridan Smith and Reece Sheersmith to name a few) that sees some of history's most famous women psychoanalysed. This Autumn Morgana can also be seen playing guest leads in the second series of David Walliam's Big School (BBC1), Jessica Knappett's Drifters (E4) and Matt Berry's Toast of London (C4).Earlier in the year Morgana starred in Channel M, one of six shorts - all exclusive to BBC iPlayer - written by and starring top British comedy talent. Channel M was a fictional TV channel run by Morgana. Among the schedules were Celebrity Forward Roll with Amy Childs and re-imaginings of Gogglebox, The Undateables with Miley Cyrus and Benefits Street.Morgana began 2014 starring in Vic and Bob's House of Fools, a BBC2 sitcom written by Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, also starring Dan Skinner, Matt Berry and Daniel Simonsen. Morgana played eccentric landlady, Julie. The project had been described as "half an hour of unadulterated Reeves and Mortimer - anarchic japes, unimaginable props and impossible situations with a stella cast."In October 2013, Morgana played Jemima Gina, a cameo role of the slightly unhinged love interest of Matt Berry in his newest Channel 4 sitcom, Toast of London.Summer 2012 saw Morgana starring in a two-part sketch show alongside Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners), Kayvan Novak (FaceJacker) and Sally Phillips (Smack The Pony) and a host of famous faces from the world of drama. Set in the modern world where serious characters say and do very stupid things, Them From That Thing combined the look and feel of great British drama with a silly and slightly unhinged comic sensibility. Them From That Thing was produced by Zeppotron and directed by Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners), broadcast on Channel 4 in August 2012.Morgana further proved her incredible ability as a mimic alongside Terry Mynott in Very Important People, a celebrity impression show that mocked our beloved stars and satirised a culture bamboozled by trivia, gossip and regurgitated ideas. Morgana's celebrity impressions included Adele, Russell Brand, Frankie Boyle, Fearne Cotton, Cheryl Cole, Danny Dyer, Natalie Cassidy, Amy Childs, Helena Bonham Carter,Sophie Dahl, Kerry Katona, Christine Bleakley, Hilary Devey, Martine McCutcheon, Jennifer Aniston and Jessie J. Very Important People was a 6 part series broadcast on Friday nights on Channel 4 at 9.30pm from April 2012.In late 2011 Morgana played the character of Carol Caplin alongside her comedy heroes Jennifer Saunders, Rik Mayall, Robbie Coltrane, Harry Enfield and Stephen Mangan in the one off feature The Comic Strip Presents...The Hunt for Tony Blair, broadcast on Channel 4.Morgana created a big noise in 2010 with her highly acclaimed debut series The Morgana Show which showcased her incredible ability to pick up acute physical nuances, mannerisms and catchphrases to create both original comedy characters and celebrity impressions. Morgana's character Gilbert, the awkward teenage boy, was a particular audience favourite of the series, spawning numerous of tributes to him on YouTube.Gilbert was first seen in 2009 interviewing celebrities in Channel 4's TNT show, hosted by Jack Whitehall and Holly Walsh. In 2008 Morgana played a crazed dental nurse and a glamorous yet repellent TV host's assistant in Ross Lee's Ghoulies, broadcast on Nickelodeon on Saturday mornings.Morgana's television debut came in 2007 where she played an Eastern European Internet bride on BBC 1's comedy The Green Green Grass. Morgana also had a cameo appearance in My Family.Morgana's journey to the screen has been a unique one. For years she worked part-time in a Soho Japanese restaurant, where John Noel was a regular. She was untrained, apart from an art degree and seven years of school plays at Benenden School, and one day plucked up the courage to hand him a showreel at the front desk (which consisted of her flat mate holding a camcorder whilst she pranced about in various wigs/teeth/glasses.) John recognised (very) raw talent and asked her in for a meeting. He told her to "start throwing rice around". Her restaurant days were over. Show less «
