Morgain McGovern is an actress, comedienne and writer. She is currently a blogger for "Dirty And Thirty"; an online magazine. She grew up traveling across America and abroad with her family. She wrote "The Traveling Road Show of the Countess Maritsa" a memoir about growing up in a family on the run, who learn to survive by their mother's wit, frenetic bipolar energy, and clever con artistry. In the "Mad Men" era of the mid-sixties, Women's Wear Daily journalist- Maureen Smith met Don McGovern, a brilliant Broadway actor and stage manager of Lincoln Center in the East Village-who also moonlighted as a Mafia henchman.Together in Los Angeles, they raised their four daughters on movie sets and in parties surrounded by the glitterati; Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper and Paul Zindel- who were all a part of her early childhood memories. After Don's success in the films Easy Rider and The Last Detail, alcoholism and womanizing soon engulfed him. After one too many affairs on Theatre Company tours, Maureen left her husband & took her daughters on the road in a Winnebago; paying the bills with insurance fraud and various cons. The family lived in gorgeous homes or, when luck ran out, run down motels, never staying in one town for more than six months. The four sisters desperately wanted to believe that the next town was permanent and that they would be able to stay and keep their friends. For years, the McGovern girls were raised on a roller coaster ride of con jobs, jewelry heists, cross country road trips, hotel rooms, drug addiction, foreign countries, game shows, Parisian dungeons, French nuns and madnessAfter the chaos of her teenage years, Morgain McGovern moved back to the United States and attended Theatre school at the Stella Adler Academy Of Acting. She's appeared in such plays as: "After the Fall" by Arthur Miller, "27 Wagons Full of Cotton" by Tennessee Williams and "Angels in America" by Tony Kushner. Most recently, she performed with the ensemble cast of "One Night Stands" at the Avery Schreiber Theatre. As the on air Host for "Inside Oceanside" at KOCT Oceanside, McGovern produced, wrote and hosted several documentaries; "Dia De Los Muertos", "Leo Carillo-California's Environmentalist" and others.Film credits include the independent movie,"Masterpiece of Connection."She can be seen performing stand up comedy at several venues around Los Angeles; "The Comedy Store," "Bliss Cafe" and "Genghis Cohen".She lives in Los Angeles and has a three cats and a dog.She owns and operates a pet sitting business called:"Moon Dogs Pet Sitting & Urban Farm"www.Moondogs.co Show less «
