Position: Loose Forward Born: 20/3/1991 Physical: 1.96m, 113kg (6'5", 240lb) Test Debut: v Wales in Dunedin 25 June 2016 DESCRIBED BY Steve Hansen recently as a "physical beast", rugged loose forward, Liam Squire benefitted from a shift south from the Chiefs to the Highlanders in 2016, earning the attention of the All Blacks selectors in his first season with the southernmost club. He made his Test debut in the Steinlager Series against Wales in June 2016 and played eight Tests in his debut year. Originally from Manawatu, Squire moved south to Nelson and made his provincial rugby debut in 2011 there for the Tasman Mako. In 2016, he missed just one game for the Mako, with his strong ball-carrying heavily utilised by the team as they made the semifinals of the Premiership. Squire - who is part of the Ngai Tahu iwi - was called into the Maori All Blacks for the first time for the 2013 North America Tour and made his debut against Canada in Toronto. He made a remarkable recovery from a fractured spine three years prior to being named in his first Super Rugby squad in 2013. Show less «
