La Monde Byrd began his acting career while studying at Central State University, participating in student productions and local community theater. His role as Cory Maxson in the Dayton (Ohio), Playhouse production of August Wilson's FENCES solidified his love for acting. An Army R.O.T.C. candidate with several career opportunities, La Monde decided to pursue his dream, moving to Los Angeles to his career as an actor after earning degrees in Spanish and Water Resource Management at Central State.Roles on "Boston Public" (FOX), "The Shield" (FX), and "Supernatural" (CW), led La Monde's interest in the entertainment industry to grow, and in 2007, he produced his first short film "Privacy Policy" which premiered at the 15th Annual Pan African Film Festival. Also in 2007, La Monde's first feature length script, HELL'S FRINGE placed in the top 15% of the Nicholl Fellowships Competition. He went on to earn his MFA from the American Film Institute (AFI) and to produce six more films over the next three years including his first feature length film, SPEED-DATING, and the short, "Family Jewels" which had its world premiere at the 66th International Venice Film Festival and its North American premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. La Monde has also guest starred on "Monk" (USA), "CSI" (CBS), and "Cold Case" (CBS).Currently, La Monde has a recurring role on the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series "Mad Men" (AMC) and is developing several film, television and new media projects with his company, Society FilmWorks.
