Kids of 88 are an excellent and dynamic New Wave electro-pop duo from Auckland City, New Zealand that's comprised of musicians Sam McCarthy and Jordan Arts. Arts and McCarthy have been best friends for ten years and attended St. Peter's College in Auckland together. They were both members of the group Incursa, which won the school age band contest Smokefreerockquest in 2004. Sam and Jordan formed Kids of 88 in 2008 (the name stems from the fact that both guys were born in 1988). Kids of 88 signed a worldwide record deal with Sony Music. Their groovy and syncopated debut single "My House" peaked at # 3 on the New Zealand pop radio charts. Two follow-up singles likewise did well the following year: The infectious "Just a Little Bit" soared to # 11 while the funky "Downtown" cracked the charts at # 21. "Just a Little Bit" won both Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards. The twosome released their debut full-length album "Sugarpills" on August 16, 2010; this album went all the way to # 2 on the New Zealand album charts. Kids of 88 toured Australia in November, 2010 and toured with Kesha in Europe in December, 2010. The duo released the EP CD "Just a Little Bit" in America in February, 2011. Show less «
