Kathleen, also known as Bird York, started acting in her late teens and is primarily known as a character actress, due to her ability to disappear into the roles she plays. Highlights include her critically-acclaimed portrayal of southern charmer Naomi Judd (from ages 27-47), in the four-hour NBC miniseries biopic, Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build a Bridge (1995), her run as hard-nosed "Congresswoman Andrea Wyatt", in six seasons of The West Wing (1999), as well as her comedic turn as "Daphne Hightower", the delightfully wacky lounge singer, opposite Diane Keaton, in the film, Northern Lights (1997). York is also an accomplished songwriter and recording artist and gained an Oscar nomination for her song, "In The Deep", in the Oscar-winning film, Crash (2004), in addition to having the main theme in Sony's Seven Pounds (2008). Her songs have also been heard on House M.D. (2004), American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (2002), CSI: NY (2004), Nip/Tuck (2003), Everwood (2002) and dozens of other film and television projects. Wanting to combine her acting and songwriting skills, she embarked on a screen-writing career in 2005 and has developed or sold scripts, outright, to Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount and Fox Television Studios. 2009 saw her completing the prestigious Showrunner's Training Program, hosted by the Writers Guild of America, in association with the Alliance of Motion Picture Producers Association. As recording artist Bird York (her nickname), she has two records in release: the self-titled "Bird York" and "Wicked Little High", released by EMI records in 2006. Her new record, "Go With It", will be released in early 2011. Show less «
