Before turning to writing, Karen was an actress. In addition to her film and TV credits, she was in an improv group. It occurred to her that improv was essentially writing on your feet, so she decided to try it sitting down. Her first effort "Gee Whiz" sold to Disney. "Dead Lady Next Door" sold to Fox 2000. Then "Anchorwomen" for Imagine/Universal. Steven Spielberg read one of her scripts and she was hired to write "Beached" at DreamWorks. Another spec "For What It's Worth" sold to Warners. After taking a brief sabbatical that turned into years (real life can be very seductive), Karen has returned to writing full-time. She has written four TV movies for the Hallmark Channel: "All of My Heart," "Love By Chance," "A December Bride," and "Love You Like Christmas."In the interest of brevity, she is now using her maiden name, Karen Berger.
