Karen Anzoategui

Karen plays Reccuring Guest Star, 'Daysi Cantu', in the Emmy nominated series, East Los High, season 3. Season 4 premieres July 15th. Karen Anzoategui is a gender queer actor/writer/solo performer with the gender pronoun 'They/Them/Theirs'. Anzoategui has gone on to have credits in the CW's Crazy Ex Girlfriend and other upcoming shows. Most known for their theatre solo show ¡Ser! a coming of age story told through a game of soccer, selected as a finalist for the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival, dramaturgy by reg e gaines in New York City in 2012 then received its world premiere at Los Angeles Theatre Center in 2013, with music by Louie Perez of Los Lobos/CAVA and co-produced by the Latino Theatre Company and Anzoategui, garnering five LA Weekly awards and winning two. ¡Ser! received an honorable mention in the 2015 The List by The Kilroys as one of the best plays by women and trans writers. Karen's second solo, Catholic School Daze, has been selling out in theatres throughout Los Angeles and is in post-production on the documentary with the same title about queer and trans subjects.
