Jim Perez

Around 1998 a friend asked Jim Perez to help set up production tents in the Miami area. He told him that Harrison Ford Started as carpenter on the sets and that anything is possible in Hollywood. It wasn't long before Jim Perez was not just erecting tents, but was also in front of the camera. Unfortunately, a debilitating ailment postponed Jim Perez's career as an actor. On a more positive note, Jim Perez is back and so is his health, attitude and more important, he believes strongly that his understand of the Art of True Acting has grown substantially. As one of his teachers exclaimed, "When acting is no longer a burden but fun and play, you know you're moving in the right direction." For Jim Perez acting is just that, FUN! Consequently, in 2013 Jim Perez finally visited, after 50 years, his native homeland the Dominican Republic. What he learned has changed his life and is regretful for not doing it sooner. First, on his grandmother's side, he learned that his great (3x) grandfather "Manuel Regla Mota" after being a colonel in the army, become the country's second Vice-President, and then, he became the country's 5th President. Also, his father "Hugo Perez Mota" who is now deceased was Head of Security for three presidents while his grandfather was Counselor/Ambassador for those same presidents. On his grandfather's side, Jim Perez's great (3x) grandfather Martin Leyba, on behalf of the Netherlands, was a Baron and Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. History tells that the Dutch funded the United States prior and during its Revolution; Jim Perez believes, because of the evidence, Martin Leyba's descendants was among those aristocrats. Finally, on his mother's side, there were and still are musicians and teachers of music. In the past there were interactions with presidents like renting a home to Juan Bosch the 43rd President of the Dominican Republic. In addition, there is one famous historical figure in Dominican history, now deceased, that was part of the family, but according to Jim Perez, it may be too sensitive to disclose without consent from his sibling's approvals.
