Isra Elsalihie was born on October 25 in Gothenburg Sweden to Daniz Elsalihie, a chemist and school teacher and Issmat Elsalihie, a machine engineer. She has a younger sister Tuna and has Swedish and Iraqi ancestry.She was accepted and studied medicine briefly at Gothenburg University and English literature at University of Sussex, Brighton, England before pursing her dreams and completing the Two-Year Conservatory Acting Program at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Before moving to New York Isra briefly worked and stayed at the invite only renowned bookstore Shakespeare & Co in Paris, France whose previous residents include Allen Ginsberg, Anais Nin and Ernest Hemmingway to mention a few. During in her time in England she held a position at Theatre Royal Brighton and was awarded through Ideastap a workshop with head of casting at Royal Shakespeare company Hannah Miller. Shortly after completing her program at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute Isra began working at the famed Actors Studio.Isra was recently awarded with a place at the 24 Hour Plays Nationals 2017 company, an honor that has previously been awarded to Kevin Spacey, Claire Danes, Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Banks, David Cross, Billy Crudup, Rosario Dawson, Rachel Dratch, America Ferrera, Seth Green, Scarlett Johansson, Ashton Kutcher, James McAvoy, Eva Mendes, Julianne Moore, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Julia Stiles, Naomi Watts, Olivia Wilde and many more.Recent NY theatre credits include Mary in "Anne Frank in the Gaza Strip" directed by associate director of "Once" Broadway, Shaun Peknic. "Parisian Blue Fantasie" produced by Mercedes Ellington. Layla in "Anything and Everything" for Writiopia Lab Festival, Aida in "The Good Man" directed by NJ Agwuna and overseen by Anne Bogart. Nancy in the "Wedding Day" at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre and off-Broadway in Transformed Deformed at Theatre 80 St Marks.Recent film and television credits include The lead Jayla in "The Invaders" directed and created by award winning director Mateo Marquez. Lead Carol in "The Preserve" by Alec Stadler. Supporting role Chelsea in "Another Girl" directed by Austin Kase which is selected for the Light House Film Festival in New York. Principal at the Travel Channels Mysteries at the Museum, Season 16, Episode 6 Tennis Titan; Brooklyn Brownstone Murder; and Nuclear Moon.Isra also had a voice over supporting role on the animated series Super Wings which was nominated for the International Emmy Kids Awards.
