Born 1970, Boyd came to acting through stage work in the late 1980's performing character roles in comedy and drama. He attended Theatre School in York and went on to perform in many theatres across the country with productions with the MAD production group. Later, Boyd turned his attention to TV and film. Boyd is a versatile actor capable of playing a wide range of characters and voices. His down to earth and friendly personality makes him easy to work with on any production. Boyd is also a former British Champion weightlifter(2010) and maintains a very healthy physique, which along with his Screen Combat Performance Training and ability to ride horses places him well for strong action type performances.
