Ayesha Wolasmal is a Norwegian soldier, diplomat, journalist and, with her debut in the 2016 geopolitical drama Nobel, actress. Born to Afghan parents in Oslo, Norway, she grew up in the cultural melting pot that is the Grünerløkka district. Politically active from an early age, and opposed to the military intervention in Afghanistan, she had a change of heart after encountering a Norweigan military convoy in Afghanistan. On her return to Norway, she joined the army and after serving out her one-year term in northern Norway she enlisted for deployment. In 2007-2008 she served with the Norwegian contingent to ISAF in Meymaneh, capital of the Faryab province of Afghanistan. From there she transitioned to political advisor at the Norwegian embassy in Kabul. Having worked with several government and non-government entities, including the Red Cross, she now works for the World Health Organization in Jordan. Her entry into acting was more accidental than anything else. She was brought in to consult on the production of Nobel when she was asked to read for the part. Show less «
