Upon receiving his BFA from California Institute of the Arts, Alex went to work for producer Robert L. Joseph in development on Sidney Sheldon's "A Rage of Angels," at Universal Studios. Following his experience at Universal, Alex was recruited by Hyperion Pictures and worked in the story department with Joe Ranft on the award winning animated feature "The Brave Little Toaster," and collaborated with Willard Carroll on "The Backyard Gang," a whimsical animated theatrical feature.The Walt Disney Studios hired Alex to co-write and co-direct, "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas." The project received an Annie Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Home Video Production. Additional projects at the Disney Studios included development on animated prime-time series, movies, and specials. In 2002, Alex worked for Disney's Theme Park Productions as a writer and story artist on "Mickey's Philharmagic," an amazing 3D animated movie showcasing new CG sequences from "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "Peter Pan," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Lion King." A resounding success with audiences around the world, the show is one of Disney's most popular and profitable filmed entertainment attractions.Over the years Alex has had the pleasure of working as a writer, director and story artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, PorchLight Entertainment, The Weinstein Company, Sony Pictures, and Nickelodeon on many popular animated movies and television shows - highlights include: "Opus," "The Goofy Movie," "Oliver and Company," "Space Jam," "Lilo and Stitch 2," "The Tinker Bell Movie," "Curious George," and more recently "Planes" and the live-action CG family comedy "The Smurfs" for Columbia Pictures.
