Critic Reviews of "Maniac - Season 1"
RogerEbert.comSeptember 20, 2018Maniac plays with genre and dramatic expectations to gain insight into the human condition in ways that other programs can't touch.
indieWireSeptember 14, 2018For those looking to study a TV show, look no further. For those looking to fall in love, well, there's no pill for that.
Hindustan TimesSeptember 20, 2018"The combination of hubris and idiocy is inconceivable," says Sally Field's character in one scene. I couldn't have described the show better myself.
TV GuideSeptember 20, 2018Don't let the weird tag scare you off; Maniac is the boldest, most unique, flippin' strange masterpiece of 2018.
Paste MagazineSeptember 20, 2018Smart writing, great creepy sensibility, well-balanced episodes: Maniac is basically fabulous... I'm trying really hard not to utter something like "tour de force" but... um...Whoa. All the feels.
NOW TorontoSeptember 20, 2018Maniac is just showing off from the first scenes. Like the man said, it insists upon itself. I felt just as trapped in Fukunaga's oppressively bespoke universe as Annie and Owen are in theirs, and I'm pretty sure that's not the point of the series.
