Flipped - Season 1

The big swerves at the end of every episode fit in with what [Will] Forte and [Kaitlin] Olson do best: taking their characters way, way too far.

It won't be to everyone's taste - Forte and Olsen's characters are terrible people, and the show relishes demonstrating that - but I liked it well enough.

Although the story takes multiple turns, one thing that remains consistent throughout Flipped is Olson and Forte's surprisingly sweet dynamic.

At least better than Murder House Flip, because stars Kaitlin Olson and Will Forte are likeable and funny. But it isn't really playing to the platform's strengths if, after three episodes, the show hasn't even fully established its premise.

The show comes from Funny or Die, but the execution hews toward the latter.

"Jann" and "Cricket" are roles that Forte and Olson, both seasoned pros at playing off-kilter narcissists, could play in their sleep, so it's no surprise that their joint deranged energy keeps "Flipped" moving at a steady clip.

Hilarity ensues due mostly to the comedic genius of those two leads.

Flipped would normally be a very easy comedy to recommend, but the experience of watching a show on Quibi is nothing but unpleasant.

There are moments when Flipped shines... But outside that, their characters are far too grating and one-note for the meta-narrative around it, especially when they run into the people whose money they just stole.

Will Forte and Kaitlin Olson are hilarious in this absurd depiction of two people oblivious to their own mediocrity who nevertheless luck their way into a more successful position.

Forte and Olson are both extremely broad here, practically shouting their lines over one another, but there's a silly vibe that helps make Flipped watchable.

Everything feels so expected. The punchlines land with a thud. Each seven-minute chunk ends before it revs up and gets its energy.
