Weird Science
TrailerTwo unpopular teenagers, Gary Wallace and Wyatt Donnelly, fail at all attempts to be accepted by their peers. Their desperation to be liked leads them to 'create' a woman via their computer. Their living and breathing creation is a gorgeous woman, Lisa, whose purpose is to boost their confidence level by putting them into situations which require Gary and Wyatt to act like men. On their road to becoming accepted, they encounter many hilarious obstacles, which gives the movie an overall sense of silliness.Actors: Anthony Michael Hall, Kelly LeBrock, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Bill Paxton, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Rusler, Vernon Wells, Britt Leach, Barbara Lang, ...»Director: John HughesCountry: United StatesDuration: 94 minQuality: HDRelease: 1985IMDb: 6.60 CommentsSort By- Newest

Critic Reviews of "Weird Science"
VarietyFebruary 27, 2008Weird Science veers off into a typical coming-of-age saga without exploring any of the psychological territory it lightly sails over in the early going.
Time OutJanuary 26, 2006This is ordinary stuff that's aged about as well as Mitchell-Smith's clunky computer.
Chicago Sun-TimesJanuary 01, 2000Weird Science combines two great traditions in popular entertainment: Inflamed male teenage fantasies and Frankenstein's monster.
QuickflixJuly 16, 2012Watching Weird Science again in the harsh light of my 20s was like catching up with an old friend who I had recalled as a raucous party animal, but was now clearly a shaky meth addict with no teeth.
Antagony & EcstasyOctober 03, 2011Bouncy and charming, anchored by Hall's finest comic turn for the director and LeBrock's disarmingly easygoing turn as a self-satisfied sex goddess.
DVDTalk.comSeptember 08, 2008Throw in an infectious Oingo Boingo title tune, LeBrock in the finest fashions the Reagan-era could offer, and intoxicated tales of large-chested, knee-happy ex-girlfriends, and you have yourself one delectable adolescent comedy.
TV GuideFebruary 27, 2008Le Brock plays her character with a sense of style and wit, something the rest of Weird Science largely lacks.
Empire MagazineFebruary 27, 2008A mildly dirty reworking of love, popularity and wild times, this is John Hughes' scrappiest film to date, but it redeems its tastelessness and stupidity by being fairly funny most of the time.
Film4February 27, 2008Weird Science is an odd mix of risqué shenanigans, puerile pranks and dubious gender politics. It also happens to be very funny.
DVD ClinicNovember 11, 2005Feels like something that Hughes slapped together over the course of one weed-filled weekend. It's a novelty flick, but a fairly funny one ... for the most part.
Filmcritic.comOctober 31, 2004All those who pine about John Hughes not making teen movies any more should be forced to watch this one again.
