The Rewrite
TrailerIn 1998, Ray Michaels (Grant) was on top of the world -- a witty, sexy, Englishman in Hollywood who had just won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. Fifteen years later, he’s creatively washed up, divorced, and broke. With no other options, he takes a job teaching screenwriting at a small college on the East Coast. Although the idea of teaching is less than thrilling, he hopes to make some easy money and enjoy the favors of impressionable young co-eds. What he doesn';t expect to find is romance with a single mom (Tomei) who’s gone back to school.Actors: Hugh Grant, Whit Baldwin, Vanessa Wasche, Enid Graham, Shannon Marie Sullivan, Jason Antoon, Jenny Neale, Caroline Aaron, Billy Griffith, Kevin Michael Kennedy, Ali Merhi, ...»Director: Marc LawrenceCountry: United StatesDuration: 107 minQuality: HDRelease: 2014IMDb: 6.30 CommentsSort By- Newest

Critic Reviews of "The Rewrite"
Chicago Sun-TimesFebruary 26, 2015A full two decades after "Four Weddings and a Funeral," Hugh Grant still does that stammering, understated, witty and dashing thing as well as anyone in the business.
New York ObserverFebruary 18, 2015Another Hugh Grant comedy that follows the dots without much wit ...
New York Magazine/VultureFebruary 13, 2015The Rewrite wants to be a film about the messiness of life but it only has Hollywood clichés to work with.
RogerEbert.comFebruary 13, 2015By no means watch this if you're looking for a nourishing cinematic experience. But if your idea of a cozy rom-com is an old Hugh Grant one, this has some cine-comfort-food-carbs for you.
Newark Star-LedgerFebruary 13, 2015Before it was done to death, there was something terribly appealing about Grant's heroes, and many of his romantic comedies -- something "The Rewrite" nicely reminds us of.
TheShiznit.co.ukJuly 11, 2016The Rewrite tries so hard to be a knowing fish-out-of-water romcom, when it contains neither romance nor comedy. Any sentimentality or sweetness is completely wrung out within the first half an hour.
Film School RejectsFebruary 20, 2015Hugh Grant ultimately makes the film an endurable experience, but he can't stop it from being a forgettable one.
