The Nightmare Before Christmas
TrailerJack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is tired of the same old thing every year: the monsters come out and perform a real scare. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween. But the atmosphere is not conducive to Jack's newfound sensibility.Actors: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine OHara, William Hickey, Glenn Shadix, Paul Reubens, Ken Page, Edward Ivory, Susan McBride, Debi Durst, Greg Proops, ...»Director: Henry SelickCountry: United StatesDuration: 76 minQuality: HDRelease: 1993IMDb: 7.94 CommentsSort By- Newest

Critic Reviews of "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
Los Angeles TimesDecember 03, 2013Part avant-garde art film, part amusing but morbid fairy tale, it is a delightfully ghoulish holiday musical that displays more inventiveness in its brief 75 minutes than some studios can manage in an entire year.
New YorkerDecember 03, 2013This full-length animated movie was shot in stop motion, with all the febrile, twittery fascination that the medium exerts; it has a magic-toy shop feeling, with unexpected objects stuttering into life.
Orlando SentinelDecember 03, 2013Burton and his collaborators present a movie musical that's like nothing you've ever seen.
Seattle TimesDecember 03, 2013Visually a macabre knockout, this 75-minute fantasy boasts some of the wittiest, most vigorous stop-motion animation effects in the history of the process.
Philadelphia InquirerDecember 03, 2013Burton, the man who gave us Batman, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, is incapable of a conventional idea. His take on the holiday fairy tale is delightfully off the wall.
Chicago TribuneDecember 03, 2013Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas has a grotesque charm, a pie-eyed magic.
Cinema CrazedOctober 26, 2016Burton gives the audience his kind of children's film, and it's absolutely stellar.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDecember 21, 2013A well-realized and weirdly amusing animated treat.
South Florida Sun-SentinelDecember 03, 2013Pure enchantment, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas creates a unique and wondrous world. This awesome movie is in a class by itself for its use of stop-action animation.
Metro Times (Detroit, MI)December 03, 2013The Nightmare Before Christmas cleverly refashions its yuletide characters into Edward Gorey refugees.
Philadelphia Daily NewsDecember 03, 2013Disney's sophisticated stop-motion animation (an advanced version of techniques used to create Gumby) creates a truly breathtaking visual landscape.
Christian Science MonitorDecember 03, 2013Animation is a wonderful medium, but it's almost too compatible with Burton's uninhibited approach. When literally anything goes, even the most original idea can get lost in the creative shuffle.
