Critic Reviews of "Searching (2018)"
ReelViewsSeptember 01, 2018Searching is a taut, effectively paced mystery-thriller with a powerful emotional component.
New YorkerAugust 31, 2018Cho, Messing, and La are excellent actors who are offered almost nothing to work with.
Globe and MailAugust 30, 2018The suspense is satisfactory; the pace is well-sustained. What really clicks, though, is the message: We leave digital bread crumbs everywhere we go, and if our secrets are not safe, neither are we.
Detroit NewsAugust 30, 2018That a thriller would come along utilizing these ideas was inevitable. What's unexpected is that it would be done so well.
Toronto StarAugust 30, 2018A well-crafted mystery with quite a few unexpected twists and turns.
Minneapolis Star TribuneAugust 30, 2018It has enough twists, turns, red herrings, chills and surprises to jangle the steadiest nerves, compelling characters and an unexpected degree of emotional power.
Reel Film ReviewsSeptember 06, 2018First-time filmmaker Aneesh Chaganty does an absolutely fantastic job of instantly drawing the viewer into the proceedings...
JeremyJahns.comSeptember 05, 2018I had no inkling that a movie that was essentially filmed with Skype could keep me on the edge of my seat.
Deseret News (Salt Lake City)September 05, 2018There's a thin line between unique and gimmick, but Chaganty handles his execution in a way that makes "Searching" immensely engaging.
Seven DaysSeptember 05, 2018A welcome oasis in the movie desert of early fall, Searching is Exhibit A.
RTÉ (Ireland)September 05, 2018Searching never opts for the traditional scene set-up, and, impressively, never feels too gimmicky.
Sunday Times (UK)September 04, 2018The film's ingenuity would have tickled Hitchcock. It's a smart, confident debut.
