Rebel Without A Cause
TrailerJim Stark is the new kid in town. He has been in trouble elsewhere; that's why his family has had to move before. Here he hopes to find the love he doesn't get from his middle-class family. Though he finds some of this in his relation with Judy, and a form of it in both Plato's adulation and Ray's real concern for him, Jim must still prove himself to his peers in switchblade knife fights and 'chickie' games in which cars race toward a seaside cliff.Genre: DramaActors: James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, Jim Backus, Ann Doran, Corey Allen, William Hopper, Rochelle Hudson, Dennis Hopper, Edward Platt, Steffi Sidney, ...»Director: Nicholas RayCountry: United StatesDuration: 111 minQuality: HDRelease: 1955IMDb: 7.60 CommentsSort By- Newest

VarietyOctober 23, 2007Here is a fairly exciting, suspenseful and provocative, if also occasionally far-fetched, melodrama of unhappy youth on another delinquency kick.
Time OutFebruary 09, 2006Dean's finest film, hardly surprisingly in that Ray was one of the great '50s directors.
Chicago Sun-TimesJanuary 20, 2006Like its hero, Rebel Without a Cause desperately wants to say something and doesn't know what it is. If it did know, it would lose its fascination.
New York TimesMay 20, 2003There are some excruciating flashes of accuracy and truth in this film.
San Francisco ChronicleJanuary 01, 2000An indelible vision of a pretty 1950s America with a searing crack in it.
Total FilmApril 14, 2014Nicholas Ray's 1955 film extends sympathy to all its characters, not just the kids, though the central trio of Dean, Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo focus our emotions.
ColeSmithey.comAugust 20, 2013[VIDEO ESSAY] "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955) is a pivotal film for many reasons - each as important as the next.
