Critic Reviews of "Last Cab to Darwin"
Globe and MailJuly 08, 2016Sims probably uses a setting-sun metaphor more than necessary, but otherwise his decisions are immaculate and his film should hold audiences in thrall.
San Francisco ChronicleJuly 07, 2016Takes a tough subject and amiably rides it out into the Outback sunset. It's a wry film that remains upbeat without betraying its rough-around-the-edges cast of characters.
Los Angeles TimesJune 16, 2016"Last Cab to Darwin" provides an emotionally textured look at one older gent's decision to take his waning life into his own resolute hands.
New York TimesJune 09, 2016Smartly directed by Jeremy Sims, this sweet-hearted film mostly manages to avoid triteness even as it casually packs an emotional punch.
Village VoiceJune 08, 2016A sentimental road drama that reflects the real-world effects of cancer: pain, anger, withdrawal, and isolation.
HeraldNet (Everett, WA)July 29, 2016Full of sun, beer, and the restless souls found along the highway."
National PostJuly 08, 2016Gorgeous cinematography from Steve Arnold captures the otherworldly beauty of the Outback as Rex and Tilly bisect the continent.
SF WeeklyJuly 06, 2016Jeremy Sims' Last Cab to Darwin is a formulaic but still heart-tugging road movie.
NOW TorontoJuly 06, 2016It's a potentially gimmicky premise, but Cribb and director Jeremy Sims refuse to condescend to it.
Georgia StraightJuly 06, 2016The actors never let artifice get in the way of the movie's deep well of human feeling.
The Patriot LedgerJuly 02, 2016Sims insists on always playing it safe, never taking chances, which ironically, is the very thing his film clumsily preaches against.
