movieBuff AnonymousAh yes, Carpenter's missed opportune sequel, when given a bigger budget Carpenter disappoints fans with a lack luster follow-up to Escape from New York with cheesy CGI and a rehashed script, music is some of his own but with some god awful 90s metal, I was disappointed re-watching this after some fondish memories now died off realizing how lazy this movie was, i dont rec this at all, even Carpenter fans should pass this, i think the ending was fitting to the creation of the movie, maybe an intent at a underlining message, "this world/movie im out" -Snake Plissken2019-04-15 05:04 -

Critic Reviews of "Escape from L.A."
Houston ChronicleJuly 05, 2002The special effects vary from OK to lame to very lame.
Globe and MailApril 12, 2002Escape from L.A. is too preposterous to be a good film. But in keeping with its title, it does provide a couple of hours of entertaining escapism.
Los Angeles TimesFebruary 14, 2001Buscemi, Fonda, Robertson, Grier and many others get to make vivid impressions, but of course it's Russell who must carry this swiftly paced picture. As rugged as ever and attractively weathered, he does so with ease.
Chicago Sun-TimesJanuary 01, 2000This is the kind of movie Independence Day could have been if it hadn't played it safe.
Common Sense MediaDecember 14, 2010Violent, semi-spoofy action sequel is too dark for kids.
Combustible CelluloidJune 23, 2007In a summer filled with giant duds like Independence Day or The Rock or Chain Reaction, this is the best testosterone action flick of the season.
Fantastica DailyJanuary 23, 2006A dreadful belated sequel to the entertaining Escape From New York. Perfectly epitomizes how Carpenter's skills have eroded since his late '70s, early '80s heyday.
TheMovieReport.comDecember 11, 2004Diverting for the 100 minutes it runs, but once they're up, it is instantly forgettable.
