    Dark Summer

Summer is a time to relax, unwind, take a vacation, and be free. But 17 year old Daniel Austin gets none of that, no cell phone, no Internet, no leaving the property, and especially no Mona, his crush because of his obsessive online stalking. He is on house arrest for the summer while his mother is away on business. A horrifying incident occurs leaving an ominous presence in the house.

    Time Out
    March 17, 2015

Offers fairly meagre chills. Still, the script has a few inventive (if not necessarily credible) moves up its sleeve.

    Los Angeles Times
    January 22, 2015

It's hard not to think of viewing "Dark Summer" as running-time served.

    New York Times
    January 08, 2015

There is something profoundly draining and suffocatingly incestuous about watching a film that's dedicated to watching a computer screen.

    New York Daily News
    January 08, 2015

As an exercise in atmosphere, this claustrophobic creeper does a lot with a little, even if the movie winds up providing just superficial shivers.

    Variety
    January 08, 2015

A clumsily established premise develops into little more than a series of familiar "gotcha!" scares.

    New York Post
    January 07, 2015

The mumbly dialogue between the three teens - realistic though it probably is - makes it hard to care too much about Daniel's housebound fate.

    TheHorrorShow
    August 23, 2015

A crisp 80-minute horror movie that may take a few scenes to get rolling, but also showcases some very interesting ideas and a great lead performance.

    Aisle Seat
    July 07, 2015

An intriguing, if flawed look at the nature of obsession.

    TheFrightFile.com
    July 07, 2015

Mopes around for 82 minutes, inspiration in short supply.

    SciFiNow
    April 10, 2015

Dark Summer is worth taking a chance on.

    Times (UK)
    March 20, 2015

This is the kind of film that relies heavily on sledgehammer sound design and creepy imagery in the absence of a persuasive story.

    Guardian
    March 19, 2015

It is an efficiently crafted, small-scale film with an interesting premise, although it sometimes feels like an atmospheric short that has been stretched out.
