even without the history reference, the fact that they spoke english before they even came to earth (which in the 1st movie OP explained they only knew the language through the internet *world wide web was the exact phrase*) just blew the whole movie for me

In the 1st transformers movie, OP says bumblebee's voice was damaged in the war on cybertron. so that means that bumblebee shouldn't be able to speak. But REALLY the timeline is bad but i still like the movie, get graphics all around.

There are real emotional stakes, an appealing 1980s look and some genuinely funny jokes.

    Us Weekly
    December 19, 2018

Bumblebee works because it dares to tap into a new dimension in this franchise: Legitimate emotional reactions. We humans like to refer to them as feelings!

    San Francisco Chronicle
    December 19, 2018

The script stays on safe, formulaic ground, but it's effective - and somehow breathes new life into a franchise that had become a junk heap.

    Washington Post
    December 19, 2018

Tones down everything that made its predecessors weak, while adding humor, emotion and a surprising amount of heart.

    Arizona Republic
    December 19, 2018

Maybe the key to getting a good Transformers movie this whole time was simply hiring a woman to write the screenplay.

    New York Magazine/Vulture
    December 18, 2018

Steinfeld is an enormously talented actress, and the film knows to spend some time with her and not try to hurry things along to the next big set piece.

    That Shelf
    December 19, 2018

[Bumblebee] mostly feels like a cold-blooded blockbuster masquerading as something warm and earnest.

    Flick Filosopher
    December 19, 2018

Nostalgic without being mindlessly retro; a sweet, heartfelt girl-and-her-alien-robot-car action-adventure buddy dramedy that hits all the right notes. Hailee Steinfeld is terrific, and there's not a whiff of Michael Bay to be found.

    Birth.Movies.Death.
    December 19, 2018

Bumblebee feels like the Transformers movie we should have gotten in the first place: a slice of family-friendly fun.

    Herald Sun (Australia)
    December 19, 2018

It has taken the franchise more than a decade to get its act together, but finally we get to experience what a Transformers movie should have been all along.

    Shadows on the Wall
    December 19, 2018

Steinfeld injects the right mix of sparky teen angst and feisty humour, adding layers to each scene that builds Iron Giant-style emotions between this girl and her car.

    Consequence of Sound
    December 19, 2018

Everything about Bumblebee feels like a fresh start for the franchise: director Travis Knight strips down the Transformers aesthetic to something cleaner and more coherent...
