He was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Immigrated to Canada with his parents when he was 3 years old. His father's name is Son Van Cao. His mother's name is Ho Thi Cao. His brother's name is Charles Cao. Tri grew up in Winnipeg and has a Microbiology & Human Genetics science degree from the University of Manitoba. Tri was introduced to the film industry by a friend after he graduated. He enrolled into the University of Winnipeg's theater program for acting training. He was then cast into a film entitled "Stryker", directed by Noam Gonick. The film got invited to the Venice International Film Festival in Italy in 2004. He was invited to dine with the Canadian Ambassador To Italy along with his film director and fellow cast members in celebration of the film's premiere. This experience inspired him to pursue the film industry, especially after his brush with film director Quentin Tarantino. He was then invited by the film industry in Winnipeg to join the film crew of "Population 436", starring Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit rock band). His initial introduction as an Assistant Director intern sparked his interest as a film director. He ended up in Vancouver to pursue his acting, but then figured out that he really wants to produce and direct his own films and movies. He underwent training to become a film producer. Tri has expressed his interest in producing films relating to romance comedy, horror suspense, fantasy, drama, animation, and 3D. He is the CEO and executive producer of Polygon Film Productions, Inc. Show less «
