Thomas Frick was born in Hagerstown, Maryland. He currently, resides in Tampa, FL, creating movies and web series on his Youtube Channel, Spotlightfrick21. He directs, edits, writes and acts in all his work. He attended Booker High School, where he studied film in the V.P.A TV/Film department and continued in College for another three years at State College of Florida. His first web series, "Narrows" premiered two says after his 22nd birthday. The episode was actually intended to be only a fight scene, but created a back story and continued to release nine more episodes to complete the first season. After successfully completing the first season, leaving off with a cliffhanger, he decided to start a film called, "The Burnt Bridge", Starring his cousin. The film was a crime story that was initially suppose to go into production in 2014 with a 2015 release. Unfortunately, the project was put on hold when his cousin had to drop out and the film was delayed for two years until Thomas was able to revisit the project. The film was completed in 17 weeks and was entered Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival in 2017 with a YouTube release some time in 2018.Thomas then came up with an idea for another web series, "Darkest Case", which aired on October 31st, 2014 on Youtube. The show was more of a success than "Narrows" taking in double the views in half the time. "Darkest Case", ran for three episodes, before production delayed. Due to scheduling conflicts, he decided to stop production after the 3rd episode. He understood that everyone involved had other things to do and chose to put it on hold until the crew could revisit the project. Thomas then continued to do comedy shorts until he decided to film a fight scene that would take his filming to the next level. With the help of his friends Jose and Nick he came up with an idea to revive "Narrows" for a second season. Thomas wanted to make the show as epic as possible but, the worry of the conflicts that he faced in his last web series, made him decide to film just a fight scene to generate interest before returning to the story. The stunts, were problematic at first. The last shot of the scene required Thomas to run out to a balcony, shoot Nick's character in the shoulder, then jump from the balcony into less than four feet of water in the pool below. Not only that but Thomas wanted his character to land backwards and they had only one take to do it. After at least 10 minutes of careful planning and lack of time left to film, Thomas jumped and landed in the pool successfully, only he landed on his butt. No injuries occurred and Thomas immediately edited the scene and uploaded it. The scene was a huge hit with his friends on social media and Thomas decided to film more to the scene and plans to film the series for a 2016 release. Two years later, Thomas met with Caleb Smith and they wrote two more episodes to finally complete, "Darkest Case" with the series concluding on his 25th birthday in August of 2016. It had it's early screening at Growler's Pub, as did "Narrows" and was released online the next day.Thomas later decided to also complete an ending for the second season of "Narrows" since he couldn't complete production before he relocated. The short is called, "Downtown: The Aftermath", for which he wrote dialogue and began production in December. The film serves as a spin-off to the series and offers closure for fans of the series. The film will be released in February 2017.In 2017, the second season of "Darkest Case" was released, with the first episode airing on YouTube, exactly 3 years after the first episode of season one did. The show again ran for 5 episodes and concluded on December 26th, 2017.His most recent short film, "Cold Dawn" was completed in 2018 and won "Best Action Film" at the IndieCon 2019 Film Festival and was nominated for "Best Action/Crime Film" at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival of 2018.Thomas hopes to one day be an actor, director, editor in Hollywood and give back to everyone that helped him get there.Updated: July 12th, 2015 Show less «
