The Shindogs were the house band on the ABC musical variety TV show Shindig! (1964). The band consisted of several legendary blues and rock n' roll musician/songwriters from the American South. Members were James Burton, Delaney Bramlett, Glen D. Hardin, Chuck Blackwell, and Joey Cooper. Burton was one of the great session and live guitarists in history, playing on many recordings by Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson and others. Burton wrote and played several iconic guitar riffs and solos, including those on "Pretty Woman," "Susie Q," and "Travelin' Man". He was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bramlett was a session guitarist on several recordings by Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, and Jerry Lee Lewis and later formed a band with his first wife, singer/actress Bonnie Bramlett. He also co-wrote "Superstar" with Leon Russell, a major hit for The Carpenters. Hardin was a one-time member of The Crickets, the original backup band for Buddy Holly, joining them after Holly's death, and also co-wrote with Russell, this time the hit "Count Me In" for Gary Lewis & The Playboys. Blackwell later joined Russell as part of the band on Joe Cocker: Mad Dogs & Englishmen (1971), the concert film of the 1970 tour by Joe Cocker. Show less «
