Tara grew up in Michigan and central Illinois exploring the outdoors as a child. Her favorite childhood memories were finding animal bones, making forts, digging in the dirt, riding her bike and getting lost in the corn fields.It was during college Tara fell in love with geology and started taking month long geology field classes to the southwestern states. This inspired her to major in Earth Science Education, which grew her passion for spending countless hours outside.After graduating from Northwest Missouri State University, Tara started a career in wilderness therapy. She worked in the wilderness therapy field for about three years in Florida and then Colorado. After moving to Colorado, Tara honed in on her wilderness survival skills by being an outdoor guide, working in the wilderness therapy field and working for the US Forest Service. Tara also spent many weeks a year backpacking, hiking and camping solo. Show less «
