Susan Rohrer cut her teeth as a director on an adaptation of James Weldon Johnson's acclaimed God's Trombones, followed by directing 100 episodes of award-winning drama Another Life. Thereafter, Rohrer produced and directed (and in some cases wrote) four specials for CBS and one for ABC, as well as For Jenny With Love and telefilm Mother's Day for the Family Channel. She went on to direct six episodes of teen comedy Sweet Valley High, as well as the pilot, Dojo Kids. Rohrer produced/directed/wrote (shared teleplay) the CBS sponsored movie, About Sarah, and wrote PAX telefilms Another Pretty Face and Book of Days. Rohrer's projects have received numerous industry awards and nominations including an Emmy Award (Never Say Goodbye, also nominated for an Emmy in cinematography [Ken Lamkin, ASC]), and three additional personal Emmy nominations in outstanding producing, directing and writing categories (Terrible Things My Mother Told Me, The Emancipation of Lizzie Stern, and If I Die Before I Wake). Rohrer directed Academy Award winner Mary Steenburgen to a SAG Award nomination for About Sarah, which was also the recipient of The Christopher Award, The Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence, and "Best in Festival" at the Breckenridge Festival of Film, and a finalist for the Media Access Awards. Additionally, Rohrer's work has been recognized with honors by the NEA, the American Women In Radio and Television's Public Service Award (Sexual Considerations), the Angel Awards, the CINE Golden Eagle Awards, and has received three NAACP Image Award nominations (Mother's Day)including Best Television Movie and two Best Actor Noms (for Denise Nicholas, Malcolm-Jamal Warner).
