Stephen Scott Scarpulla has a well-rounded background in the entertainment industry with experience both in front and behind the camera.Stephen began his professional acting career at the age of 8 and within six months was a member of SAG, AEA & AFTRA. On Broadway, Stephen played the role of "Gavroche" in "Les Miserable" at the Imperial Theatre for over 2 years under the direction of Trevor Nunn and Jason Moore. He was "Clarence" and "Newsboy" in the Broadway revival of "Gypsy" directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, starring Bernadette Peters, for its entire run at the Shubert Theater. He also performed in the Broadway revival of "Oklahoma" as "Travis" and "Maverick" directed by Trevor Nunn, starring Patrick Wilson at the Gershwin. Stephen played the role of "Young Scrooge" in the Madison Square Garden production of "A Christmas Carol", starring Roger Daltrey as "Scrooge."Stephen earned notable reviews from the New York Times, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc. for his role as "Bert" in "Landscape of the Body", written by John Guare and directed by Tony nominated, Michael Greif at the Signature Theatre opposite Lili Taylor, Paul Sparks and Bernard White.Stephen has been seen or heard in over 30 commercials. He is featured in the new BMW i3 electric car commercial which premiered during the (2014) Sochi Olympics.Stephen has been living in Manhattan since the age of 11. He graduated as Valedictorian from (PPAS) The Professional Performing Arts High School in New York City where he attended both middle school and high school.Stephen graduated with high honors from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts earning a BFA in Film & TV Production with a heavy focus on directing and a minor in producing. He also took master classes in Prague at FAMU (Film & TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts.) in 2007, his first narrative short film was accepted and screened as part of The Tribeca Film Festival's youth division. It screened again in 2008 at the Chicago International Film Festival and Reel Teens Festival in Woodstock. His first short film, "Green Apples & Wannabes," written and directed by Stephen while still in high school, won Best Local Short at the S.I. International Film Festival and also garnered him a Best New Filmmaker nomination.At NYU, Stephen wrote and directed several award-winning short films including his intermediate narrative, "Reaction," which was shot on location in the Czech Republic and screened at the Chicago International Film Festival. His thesis film, "How It Is," was nominated for the Princess Grace Award and was the recipient of the Malcolm Ross Memorial Film Production Award.Stephen is co-founder of Other/Side Pictures, LLC. a New York based film production company.
