The daughter of an Austrian diplomat and a Syrian painter, her middle name is pronounced "Noor". Nur and her family relocated to a different country every 3 years. She lived in Egypt, Romania, Italy, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Jordan and Austria, and speaks fluent Arabic, German, Italian and English. Her command of Arabic is so that she can speak it in a few different dialects: Syrian, Egyptian, and Jordanian.She graduated from the University of Stirling in Scotland with a MSc in Psychology with Honours; having finished the masters degree in 3 years instead of 5.Nur worked for the UNHCR in Jordan in 2011, under Imran Riza, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Representative to Jordan and the neighboring regions. The focus during this assignment was aiding the humanitarian response to the crisis in Syria.Cast in the acclaimed Austrian film, Risse Im Beton (Cracks in Concrete), the film went on to premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival, and garnered the protagonist the Best Actor Award from the Austrian Film Academy in 2015.She performed classical and modern plays, both in German and English, for different stage productions in the theaters of Vienna.
