Sally was born in Bromley, Kent, when it was still actually Kent, and not London, but moved to Derbyshire at the age of 5. When nearly 13 she moved back down to Surrey, but had a postal address of Sussex. She then went to University in Cambridge and on graduating she moved to the Docklands, but before the Docklands were the Docklands, then to Blackheath, London, then to a part of Twickenham that was Hounslow, but subsequently became Richmond, then to Northern Ireland and finally to Gloucestershire. Sally finds the question "where do you come from" a particularly challenging one, but on the upside she can do many U.K. accents,Sally was the youngest of three children and the only girl, so, when she was aged 10, not knowing what to do with girls, her parents shipped her off to board at St. Elphin's School in Derbyshire (where she'd attended since age 5 as a day girl.) At the age of 13 however, Sally's parents moved to Surrey (with a Sussex postal address), and Sally moved too. From then she attended Notre Dame Convent School for Girls. Sally clearly made a great impression on her schools, as St. Elphin's is now a retirement village and Notre Dame is now a mixed school called Lingfield College. Sally went to Homerton College Cambridge and did a B.Ed in Drama (because you could then). That's changed too, but it's a long story. Her first acting role was aged 6, in Bakewell Village Hall, as First Field Mouse in Toad of Toad Hall. Sally can still remember the lines, a skill which proved quite useful when later learning the lines for a one woman tour. Sally jointly set up and ran Pippin Alley Theatre Company in Northern Ireland, a theatre for young audiences company which toured primary schools throughout Northern Ireland from 1995 to 1999.Sally is married with five children. Three of her daughters Emily, Laura and Daisy are actors. Her husband, Derek, is an engineer. Show less «
