Prior to moving into acting, Romana Caren was noted as one of Vienna's most popular vocal coaches. Born and raised in Vienna, Austria she first set foot on stage at the age of eight. After graduating in Structural Engineering at Camillo Sitte Lehranstalt (Technical College) she studied Law at the Universitiy in Vienna and Astronomy at the University of Central Lancashire.She was trained in acting by Dunja Tot and graduated with the Austrian State Diploma in Acting. To continue her education she went to London and attended a course in Contemporary Drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.Her stage credits include the title role in Alice im Wunderland, Stephanie in the German premiere of The Age of Consent/ Alt Genug, the mayor's wife in Maedchen in Uniform and Heaven in Heaven and Holly.Romana is also a passionate playwright. The play Glueckskaempfer she co-wrote together with Norbert Holoubek, Alexe Schmid and Stefan Wilde had its world premiere in November 2007 in Vienna in which she performed the role of Anastasia. In the premiere of her following play "Wintervoegel", she wrote together with Florian Graf, on the stage of the Theater in der Drachengasse in Vienna she played the role of Emilia. In March 2011 "Sein oder nicht sein" premiered at the Das OFF-Theater in Vienna with Romana Caren, Marcus Wagner and Elisabeth Halikiopoulos in the lead roles.After graduating from London Film Academy in filmmaking she has founded Film'84 International together with some fellow alumini. Their first short film Make a Wish (2011) (which Romana wrote together with Pascoe Foxell and directed) was screened in the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival 2011. As were Romana's short films Where the Wild Roses Grow (2012) a year later in the 2012 and Heartbeat (2012) in the 2013 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.Romana is married and has one child.
