Oscar Cardenas is a Venezuelan-born actor that began his first steps as a filmmaker at the age of 12 when he and his brother Victor shot more than 10 short films with his father's 8mm camera and the help of his friends, family, and neighbors. Cardenas's interest in films was nurtured watching thousands of Old Hollywood classics. He used to memorize along with his twin brother all of the dialogue lines from every leading character of each one of his favorite movies. Expelled from five different schools and finally finishing high-school he got accepted at the prestigious Performing Arts & theater Center Escuela de Artes escĂ©nicas Juana Sujo, a three-year intensive acting course centered on the Stanislavski method. At the same time, he did a bachelor's degree program in Business administration. After acting in several professional plays he transitioned into television. Disappointed with the quality of the material, he decided to quit acting and focused on launching with his beloved father Jose Cardenas and his brother Victor, a business that eventually became of great success. After a rocky marriage, he gets divorced and stays single for a few years. He would later marry again and decided to take a radical turn in his life: continuing with his acting career. He acted in several short films directed by his daughter Maria Gabriela Cardenas getting awards and recognition for his work in The Grand Guignol and Bon appetit. The duo established a new production company, Path of Thorns Entertainment specialized in making thrillers and horror movies. Eager to produce and act in feature films, Cardenas focused during two straight years in developing an original feature film screenplay titled A DARK FOE along with his daughter. Once the screenplay was finished they joined forces with Hollywood producer Amy Williams to make it a reality. The story of a former FBI agent who suffers from an irrational fear of the dark and struggles to find his missing sister, appealed so much to Academy Award nominee actor Graham Greene, that he took the part right after reading the screenplay. Greene's role as The Cradle, a Native American Psychopath was written with him in their minds from the very beginning. Cardenas began preparation for the role of an FBI agent, even before securing the funds for producing the movie. He got help from two real FBI Agents whom he shadowed through several weeks. The screenplay went to the hands of seasoned actress Selma Blair, who amazed by the extraordinary gallery of compelling characters and complex storylines, also joined the project. Oscar Cardenas co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in A DARK FOE accomplishing his long-awaited dream and is now developing two features The Bus and The Man with The Lion Face. He now resides in Los Angeles, California. Show less «
