Mike O'Loughlin started acting on stage late in life. When he was over 40 a role was open in a local theatre production of "You Can't Take It With You" to play Paul Sycamore. O'Loughlin was told it was a small role with barely any lines and asked if he would help out. Little did he know it was a major supporting role, but he was hooked. He acted in many stage plays, dinner theatre venues, and also the huge Minnesota Renaissance Festival. His daughter took many acting classes and began film work, where the director noticed O'Loughlin waiting for his daughter, asked him if he acted, and he was given a background role with nice screen time in "Nobody," Produced by Josh Hartnett.Other background work, including a History Channel feature, "The Holy Grail in America," led to speaking parts in supporting roles, which he enjoys doing in between his full time job for a rural electric cooperative and volunteer activities.O'Loughlin credits his undercover experience as a private investigator with adding to his acting believability. "When you have to go and maintain an untrue "cover" story with the subject of an investigation where being found out would blow the case, you learn how to be convincing" said O'Loughlin. Show less «
