Miguel Zayas is an award winning director/cinematographer with more than twelve years of experience. He is an actor's Director with marvelous talent for storytelling. His passion for conveying the creative idea to the cinematic language enables Zayas to communicate the message to the audience in unexpected and original ways.DIRECTOR - CINEMATOGRAPHERAs a director and cinematographer, Zayas has shot over 175 commercials for clients such as Snapple, Radio Shack, Vitamin Water, Licor 43, Open Mobile, Kahlua Liquor, the local beer "Medalla", amongst many others. Zayas has also worked in Hollywood feature films such as Stephen Hopkin's "Under Suspicion", where he excelled as Festival Producer and Cultural Consultant.Besides, he has directed three (3) Puerto Rico Tourism Campaigns and he shot/produced 18 documentaries, including "El Ciclo de los Nutrientes" for PR's Educational system plus "San Juan Ciudad de Todos".For the music industry Miguel has produced and directed many music videos as well as being the cinematographer for the Puerto Rico crew for "Yanni Live at El Morro", concert which was broadcast through the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS).Likewise, he has shot several TV series, including "Old Man Gone Wild," for which he travels to NY City to serve as director, creative director, cinematographer and co-producer. He has also done children's hit programs such as "Atencion, Atencion" and El Trotamundos. In the latter, he served as director and contributed in the creative process plus the development of animations.Camera operatorZayas was part of the production staff on Steven Spielberg's "Amistad" and Robert Zemericks "Contact." He filmed a special for AOL Latino, as well as the promotional Interviews for Disney's program "Off the Map" and the mayor motion picture "Loosers". He has shot multiple live concerts (Mana;, Juanes, Daddy Yankee, La Secta)Accomplishments:While Zayas was still a student, he had an opportunity to work with famous dramatists such as Osvaldo Dragun (Argentina), Augusto Boal (Brazil), Dra. Rosa Luisa Marquez & Antonio Martorell (Puerto Rico). Best Cinematography Award in Puerto Rico's 2000 Film Festival for "San Juan Ciudad de Todos". In 2009 Zayas was invited to join the International Cinematographer's guild in the category of Director of Photography. In addition, he has won several Cuspide Adverstising Industry Awards for developing commercials for Snapple and Alianza para un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas among others.Education:He studied Science, Theater & Music at the University of Puerto Rico and Telecommunications at Sacred Heart University. Zayas contributes to the entertainment industry of Puerto Rico, in addition to being founder of the production company Sentido Comun since 2003; he co-founded the theatrical company "Agua, Sol y Sereno".
